Music Department performing organizations meet on school time and grant academic credit. Public concerts are held periodically in the Weimer Auditorium, weekday evenings, throughout the school year.

Course offerings include:
Concert, Philharmonic, and Symphony Orchestras, Concert, Symphonic and Cadet Bands, Wind Symphony, beginning and Advanced Choruses and Concert Choir

Students enrolled in these courses may audition or participate in other activities and enrichment groups including:

Marching Band: The Saxon Marching Band is the largest student organization in the high school and is made up of members of all four regular concert groups; Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Concert Band and Cadet Band.  Students in the Marching Band perform at pre-game and half-time of all home football games, as well as assemblies and IHSA play-offs.  In addition, the band marches in the annual Septemberfest Parade and has performed at Disney World, Toronto, Canada, and the 2008 Outback Bowl.

Pep Band: Includes members of all four bands. This spirited organization provides music at pep assemblies and home basketball games. It also provides music for championship teams and all school “send-off” celebrations.

Jazz Band: The Jazz program at Schaumburg High School consists of these three organizations.  The Jazz Lab Band is where young students are introduced to the exciting world of jazz style and improvisation.  The Jazz Ensemble is the upper level group performing the highest level of jazz repertoire.  The Jazz Combo is reserved for those students with advanced improvisation skills.  All three groups perform at concerts and festivals around the Chicagoland area.  The Jazz Ensemble has performed at Disney World in Orlando, Florida.  The annual “Jazz and Joe” concert features well-known guest artists performing with the students.
